Online learning

Position Description

ITS California Cyber Training Complex (CCTC) is offering an internship to help implement and document a new online learning environment.

Responsibilities

Under general staff supervision, and as part of a team, duties include:

  • Research, propose, and document learning environment requirements
  • Research, propose, and document learning environment framework
  • Document, develop, and perform implementation of learning environment in a cloud platform

Student Qualifications

  • Film-Making, Journalism, Communication, Technical Writing, or other related majors or other related majors

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Familiarity with web content management software or learning management systems
  • Ability to create concise and engaging documentation
  • Ability to work independently, within a team environment, with guidance from department members
  • Familiarity with server administration and system deployment in a cloud environment
  • Familiarity with web development, UX, and programing

Forensic: Cloud Computing

Position Description

ITS California Cyber Training Complex (CCTC) is offering an internship to cloud computing tools to help develop, implement and document a virtual computing desktop and storage environment, in a secure cloud environment.

Responsibilities

Under general staff supervision, and as part of a team, duties include

  • Research, propose, and document secure cloud desktop computing and storage requirements
  • Propose, and document learning cloud desktop computing and storage framework
  • Document, develop, and perform implementation of cloud desktop computing and storage in a secure cloud platform

Student Qualifications

  • Computer Science, Business, or other related majors

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Familiarity with desktop engineering and workstation deployment practices
  • Ability to create concise and engaging documentation
  • Ability to work independently, within a team environment, with guidance from department members
  • Familiarity with server administration and system deployment in a cloud environment
  • Familiarity with web development, UX, and programing

Video Scripting

Position Description

ITS California Cyber Training Complex (CCTC) is offering an internship to develop and script support videos for the support of Cyber Training on a variety of technical topics.

Responsibilities

  • Working with technical and non-technical staff to develop a list of possible training topic video candidates, with the goal of augmenting training materials in support of the California Cyber Training Complex courses and outreach.
  • Script and produce a series of short videos based on the list of topics
  • Create supporting documentation and training materials to support course materials

Student Qualifications

  • Film-Making, Journalism, Communication, Technical Writing, or other related majors

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • General familiarity with computer and software application use.
  • Ability to work independently, with guidance from department members.
  • Ability to prioritize ongoing vs. immediate needs appropriately.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and make recommendations based on analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical writing and video production skills are preferred.

Customer & Technology Support

Video Development

Position Description

ITS Customer & Technology Support (CTS) is offering an internship to develop and script support videos for the Service Desk on a variety of technical topics.

Responsibilities

  • Working with technical and non-technical staff to analyze service data and develop a list of possible training topic video candidates, with the goal of improving self-service support options for Cal Poly students and staff.
  • Script and produce a series of short videos based on the list of topics. CTS staff can provide assistance with video production and technology needs, including the setup and operation of cameras, lighting, sound, and screen capture technologies. CTS staff may also be available for demonstrations and voice-overs as needed.

Student Qualifications

  • Film-Making, Journalism, Technical Writing, or other related majors

  • General familiarity with computer and software application use.

Position Description

ITS Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS) is offering an internship to help implement and document a technology asset management system. Ancillary opportunities include learning and managing work in an Agile environment as well as learning and using a web content management system.

Responsibilities

Under general staff supervision, duties include

  • Research, propose, and document asset management taxonomy
  • Research, propose, implement, and document asset inventory processes
  • Document and perform asset data collection processes
  • Document asset management system usage

Student Qualifications

  • Computer Science, Business, or other related majors

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Familiarity with web content management software
  • Ability to create concise and engaging documentation
  • Ability to work independently, with guidance from department members
  • Basic familiarity with database concepts

Information Technology Services

Student Ambassador Program

Position Description

The purpose of this internship is to help ITS develop an ambassador program which will educate incoming and new students about the array of technology resources available to them on campus. The program should also help position ITS in a positive light to our campus community..

Responsibilities

Under general staff supervision, and as part of a team, duties include:

  • Training on ITS productivity tools and ITS services
  • Researching other campus ambassador programs and new student/orientation programs
  • Working with other student interns to develop a structure for the ITS ambassador program
  • Developing a communications plan for incoming students
  • Producing marketing materials to get students interested in becoming ambassadors
  • Develop KPI's to measure success

Student Qualifications

  • Business, Marketing, Customer Service, Technology, or other related majors

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe software for documentation and graphic design work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently
